Eco Egg Fragrance Free Dryer Eggs
Dryer sheets are usually made from thin sheets of plastic polyester fabric and contain a whole host of chemical ingredients, some not even declared on the packaging.
Many dryer sheets contain artificial fragrances and other chemicals that can trigger asthma and disrupt hormones. In one study researchers tested five name brand dryer sheets. The findings showed that the dryer sheets emitted 15 endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) and chemicals associated with asthma. Evidence from studies suggests that EDCs can affect developing reproductive and nervous systems, metabolism, and cancer.
These Reusable Dryer Balls are a great, eco and skin-friendly alternative to dryer sheets. Although they are made from plastic, I like that they reduce the drying time and therefore CO2 emissions. It isn't always possible to avoid the use of a tumble dryer so I think that these help to soften to blow of them on the environment.
I don't own a tumble dryer as I like to air dry my laundry outside if I can (if not on an airer inside). My faithful tester has however provided a review below:
"I was a bit dubious to start with but was impressed at how quickly the clothes in the dryer were dry! I've now been using them in every load I put in, and they do work. The only downside is that it can make drying a little noisy, but it's worth it to reduce the drying time!"
