Brand Story: Soul & Soap is a small company based in Cornwall. They are not yet 100% plastic free, but are in the process of eliminating their plastic use on their products. They use natural ingredients wherever possible which are ethically sourced and sustainable. They also believe that neither animals, humans or the environment should suffer for our luxuries so all of their products are cruelty free and most of them are vegan friendly.
None of their product formulas include palm oil, but they know that it can be included as a raw material or processing component when ingredients/products are manufactured. Because of this, they always request that their supply chain source only RSPO certified oils if it is required.

Soul and Soap Juicy Watermelon Shampoo Bar
Shampoo bars are a plastic free alternative to liquid shampoo that comes in a bottle (they are essentially just a solid version). These bars come in an aluminium tin which is infinitely recyclable. They can also come as a refill which is packaged in recyclable paper, but as aluminium is infinitely recyclable, I made the decision not to stock the refills as in my opinion, it is more eco-friendly to use packaging that can be recycled infinitely than something that can only be recycled a few times.
I always find with liquid shampoo that a lot of what I pour out in my hand doesn't actually end up on my hair, and just ends up down the drain. With shampoo bars, they can either be applied in your hands (like a bar of soap) and then the product massaged into your hair, or if you're anything like me, (I have thick curly hair) I like to apply the bar directly to my hair all over to get good coverage. This means no product is accidentally wasted by it falling off your hands in the shower.
Although the bars might look small, they last a lot longer than your standard bottle of shampoo. Hubby and I tend to go through one bar every 3-4 months and he's an every day hair washer! Just make sure that the bar is never sat in water as this will make the bar disappear quicker.
The 'Soul & Soap' shampoo bar range are all SLS, SLES and Paraben Free so have no nasties in them.
My first shampoo bar was one from Lush, and I initially loved it. I then had a recommendation to try the Soul & Soap range and they completely blew Lush bars out of the window. There was no transition and my hair feels lovely and clean afterwards, not like it's been coated in chemicals. I was especially surprised that they worked so well as I live in a hard water area.
Not only this, but with my thick curly hair, I usually cannot go without using a conditioner after shampooing, but since swapping to these bars have been able to cut out conditioner on my routine washes, as they leave my hair lovely and soft once my hair is dry. Once a week or so, I use the Friendly conditioner bar as a bit of a treatment. The initial feeling when you get out of the shower takes a little bit of getting used to without a conditioner, but when it dries it's totally worth it! So much volume!
I have been working my way through the fragrances and love them all for different reasons. They're strong enough to be able to smell whilst still being subtle enough to not overpower.
A major positive of these bars is that they can easily be transported in their tin - especially travelling abroad with hand luggage as you won't have to meet the 100ml liquid limit! You can take your whole hair care range with you on your trip away, without having to worry about the limit or any spills on your travels.
I just love knowing that what I'm washing my hair with is reducing plastic waste, and is better for me by being free from nasties!
