SOAP AND SOLID SHOWER GEL BARS

Soap and solid shower gel bars are one of the plastic swaps I found the easiest in my house. They are so versatile and work well as an alternative to face wash, body wash and hand wash - Great for everyday use and as a nice gift or stocking filler.

It has become the norm to have plastic bottles filled with liquid soap and shower gel on our sinks and in our showers instead of the timeless bar of soap. Lots of big liquid soap brands like Method and Carex have started doing refill pouches so that you can reuse the same plastic bottle, however in using these once myself, I noted that the refill pouches are only recyclable with Terracycle which isn't always easily accessible to everyone. The best way to reduce waste in this area is to 'go naked' and make the switch to soap bars or solid shower gel bars, or to opt for powdered soap or shower gel that comes in compostable packaging. All of the soaps and solid shower gel bars above are wrapped in fully recyclable cardboard boxes.

Natural soap and shower gel bars contain some ingredients which can help with inflammation and prevent agains infection which adds an additional benefit above just protecting the environment. As the ingredients are natural, they won't cause any harm to our eco system once they have been washed down the drain.

So, what is the difference between soap bars and solid shower gel bars I hear you ask? Well, solid shower gel bars contain a lot more moisturising ingredients which prevent the 'sticky skin' feeling that some experience after using a traditional soap bar on their body. These solid shower gel bars are designed to be used as a body wash in the shower, whereas soaps are more suited to use for hands and face, although some still choose to use them as a shower soap too.

For those of you that don't get on with bars, the Milly & Sissy range above is a powder that you add to water to create a liquid shower cream or hand wash that you decant into your own pump bottle - a great way to repurpose an old plastic bottle! Alternatively, you can opt for the Flawless body wash range which come in a glass bottle.
